UCAN centres
We have six UCAN (Urban Care and Neighbourhood) centres. They're located in some of the more deprived areas that we cover.
Our centres are a base from which we provide free access to computers and space for residents and partners to deliver activities to build a strong community infrastructure. Our UCAN centre staff provide a range of face to face support services for customers including:
- help to get ‘work ready’ and find employment through workclubs
- training and volunteering opportunities
- support with poverty issues, including food vouchers and hardship fund support
- support with health and wellbeing needs, including referral to specialist health services like BIDAS and Think Positive
- bespoke help and signposting to other relevant services.
The police often have a community base in our UCAN centres, along with Bolton Council services, public health and NHS primary services.
