Investing in our communities
-
Fusion
A number of tenants and residents associations and community groups around the Tonge area came together and created a vibrant community hub with a full programme of activities each week.
-
Connecting Communities
We hold community networking events four times a year so groups can share learning between themeselves and learn about relevant housing information.
-
Craft a Story
Children aged 5 - 11 learn crafts and improve their reading with Craft a Story.
-
Dramatic Action
Dramatic Action is a customer drama group that raises awareness of social issues through an array of live and recorded performances.
-
Men in Sheds
Men in Sheds is a community project addressing social isolation among men in Breightmet and Tonge.
-
Not Shop
We set-up the charity-shop styled Not Shop, in Breightmet, to supply the local community with free clothes and work experience to help people into employment.
-
Private Landlord Services and tackling empty properties
We have an innovative Private Landlord Service. We take on the letting, management and repair responsibilities for private sector property owners on a three year lease term. This boosts housing provision in Bolton. We have 180 homes and aim to grow this by another 50 this year.
-
Subway project
A once tired-looking subway was given a bright and colourful makeover by students from Little Lever School, as part of a national campaign to use creativity to help tackle crime.
-
The Cowshed at Fusion
The Cowshed is a milkshake bar and internet cafe for children aged 8 to 12. It's based at the Fusion Centre in Tonge Moor.
-
UCAN centres
We have six UCAN (Urban Care and Neighbourhood) centres. They're located in some of the more deprived areas that we cover.
