Saturday 25 November marked the start of the annual United Nations led 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign which highlights the need for more education, support and action to stop domestic abuse against women and girls.
The campaign runs from 25 November through to 10 December and we’re working with our Bolton Family partners to hold a series of events over the 16 days for both the public and professionals.
There will be several in-person activities hosted by us and colleagues from local charities and domestic abuse support services to help people to spot and report the signs of abuse, as well as inspiring survivors to know they deserve better and can follow others who are now thriving.
This year’s theme is ‘This is what activism looks like’, highlighting everyday acts of activism by women in our communities. Celebrating what women do in their daily lives, big or small, that makes them an activist, while also responding to gender-based violence and challenging the root causes including inequalities and gender stereotypes.
We’ve run a number of creative well-being and writing workshops in the lead up to the campaign and you can see all the artwork created by members of our communities at the following centres:

The vigil remembers the victims of domestic abuse at Bolton Parish church where Bolton and Bury Rock choir will also be performing. No booking required.
