Changing lives and chances to win cash prizes through our staff lottery
We’re a not-for-profit charitable organisation that also helps various registered charities to provide specialist and dedicated help for people experiencing challenging circumstances.
We support local and regional charities in different ways, which include offering our staff the opportunity to join our staff lottery scheme.
Staff can donate £2 from their salary each month. Half goes into creating a monthly prize fund, giving them chances to win cash prizes. And half goes towards funds for charities, currently Reuben’s Retreat and Backup.
Reuben’s Retreat is a charity that supports families of children with life-limiting conditions. It’s a place to go and relax, recharge, and create memories together. It also offers support and bereavement counselling for parents and siblings who have lost a child. Find out more at www.reubensretreat.org.
Backup is a charity that provides safe and stable places for young people who are aged 16 to 25 and as risk of homelessness. And Backup also helps young people to develop their confidence and life skills, and get support with mental-health issues, employment and money skills, to enable independence. Find out more at https://backup-charity.org.uk/.
We recently presented Maura Jackson (Chief Executive), Laura Pendlebury (Director of Income and Partnerships) and Che the dog, from Backup, with a cheque for £1275.50 raised through our staff lottery.
As an organisation, we’re also a Guardian of Backup and each year contribute to covering some of the cost of food, toiletries, cleaning products and other essential things that young people might need at a critical time in their lives.
Between 2022 and 2023 Backup gave 229 young people a home and prevented many others from becoming homeless. Many of these people become Bolton at Home tenants after leaving Backup’s services and successfully maintain their tenancies due to the great start they’ve received from Backup.
Our staff get to vote for who will receive half of their lottery scheme donations. And last year, we donated £1240.20 to Endeavour. Their range of services help people, who’ve experienced and survived domestic abuse and violence, and their pets to live lives free from abuse with a positive and caring future. We’re proud to support different charities as an organisation and as individuals.
