Plans for 68 new affordable homes in Breightmet
We have submitted a planning application jointly with Watson Homes, one of our development partners, for 68 new properties that would be situated on land off Withins Drive.
The homes would offer a mix of two and three-bedroom houses and one and two-bedroom apartments, all of which would be made available for rent at affordable levels.
Dominic Conway, our director of development and growth, said: “This development will see a vacant site revitalised with well-built, energy-efficient affordable homes.
“We’ve chosen a mix of homes that can meet the demand from both larger and smaller families, as well as couples and single occupants.
“We’re pleased to be partnering with Watson Homes to build these new properties. Our figures show that when houses with Bolton at Home become available in this area we receive on average over 100 enquiries per property, so this development will play a vital role in helping us meet the strong local demand for affordable homes.”
The homes would be built on land that’s been vacant since a former primary school building on the site was demolished earlier this century.
The development features 51 two and three-bedroom houses, four one-bedroom cottage-style apartments, and 13 two-bedroom maisonette apartments.
The semi-detached and terraced properties would be arranged around a new cul-de-sac access road off Withins Drive, with all the homes benefitting from on-site parking.
The planning application will be considered by Bolton Council’s planning committee in due course.
Subject to planning consent, work could start on site in November with the homes being completed in spring 2021.
