Plans approved for new affordable homes in Bolton, off Chorley Street
Housing providers Bolton at Home and Irwell Valley Homes have been granted planning permission for 118 new affordable homes close to Bolton town centre.
The homes will revitalise a derelict former car park off Chorley Street with work expected to start on site before the end of September.
The development will provide a range of homes and tenures to respond to the local housing demand. Once complete, it will offer 17 two, three and four-bedroom houses with landscaped gardens which will be available to buy through the Government's shared ownership scheme designed to help people onto the property ladder. The remainder of the homes will be apartments offering a mix of tenures including affordable rent and Rent-to-Buy, as well as dedicated housing for older people.
The development, which has received grant funding from Homes England, will be built by experienced developer and contractor Watson Homes and has been designed by TADW architects.

“Being so close to local services, the town centre and transport links, we expect this development to prove very popular with residents, especially those working in the town centre. It will play a key role in our plans to create over 1,400 new affordable homes across the borough.”

When complete, this high-quality development will bring a new standard of affordable housing to Bolton in an attractive, convenient setting.”
At the centre of the site, 62 car parking spaces will be provided for residents living in the apartments, as well as 31 spaces for the houses. The homes will be accessed from Chorley Street, using an existing access point.
Each apartment will be equipped with Juliet balconies, with a number of homes giving tenants views of Queen’s Park and the River Croal, which runs next to the site.
Bolton at Home and Irwell Valley Homes are both members of the Greater Manchester Housing Providers Network. The 26 providers that make up the network have collectively pledged to provide 16,000 new homes by April 2024.
