On Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) and worried about moving to Universal Credit? We’re here to help.

What’s changing

If you currently receive Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), and have not yet received a migration notice, you’ll soon be asked to move to Universal Credit (UC). ESA provides support for people with a health condition or disability that affects their ability to work. UC replaces older benefits—including ESA—with a single monthly payment.

Why act now

If you’ve had a UC migration letter, start your claim as soon as possible. Waiting too long could put your ESA payments at risk.

The Department for Work and Pensions will try to help if you don’t respond—but that process can take time and may involve home visits and extra steps. Acting now means you stay in control and avoid the stress.

Our Money Advice Team provides one-to-one support to guide you through the change.
