How we've stopped people from falling into homelessness during the pandemic

How we've stopped people from falling into homelessness during the pandemic
In this short film, Craig Hardman (our Head of Homefinder Services), Steve Lyons (our Housing Support Manager), and some of the partners we've worked alongside will tell you how we made sure those in crisis or at risk of homelessness had a home that was safe, warm, and comfortable as the pandemic shifted the circumstances for many.

You can watch the film below. Thanks to The Videobox (www.thevideobox.tv) for creating this short film.

To do this, our Homefinder team worked with staff from our Technical Services team (who ensured empty properties were ready for new tenants), as well as local partners like:
  • Bolton Council’s temporary accommodation team,
  • Urban Outreach Bolton,
  • Bolton Community Transport and Furniture Services,
  • Eckersleys Removals,
  • and others..
..to develop specific support packages for those desperately needing emergency housing during the pandemic.

As a result, our Homefinder team were able to provide a place to live for 73 individuals or families needing an urgent move between 23 March and 4 December.

For this work, we've been shortlisted for the UK Housing Awards (25 November) in the 'Homelessness Partnership of the Year' category, alongside Greater Manchester Housing First, a three-year pilot project that we support to secure homes for people sleeping rough or at risk of being homeless (which you can learn more about here: https://www.boltonathome.org.uk/bolton-at-home-news/working-together-to-tackle-homelessness-5050/)
