We’re pleased to share that we’ve received planning application approval to support our transformation of units and land we own at Trinity Retail Park into our Greenworks site.
We submitted an application to Bolton Council to change the use of two of the four units to allow us to create a green technology, business, skills and education centre and a community Humanitarian Hub with our Greenworks partner Urban Outreach.
Our application also included external alterations to all four units- to replace the render and cladding, install a living green wall, and reconfigure the car park to facilitate electrical charging points with a solar canopy, air source heat pumps and cycle shelters.
Work will start on site in the coming months and we’ll explore food growing, hydroponics and composting to support the borough’s community food response.
We’re also looking at the designs for Greenworks’ internal spaces so they deliver our requirements for sustainability, carbon reduction, technology and training, power, lighting and Wi-Fi.
Greenworks is a big part of our aim to achieve a sustainable net-zero carbon future.
Our plans for it include developing a training centre so we can learn the latest skills in green technologies as we retrofit homes and buildings to make them more energy efficient and implement new ways of working to reduce emissions and create sustainable energy.
We’re also exploring building a modular training house to help us develop our trades in a real environment.
The site will enable us to provide carbon-literacy and carbon reduction training to more people.
As a centre of green excellence, it’ll provide opportunities for local businesses to use the space for training, upskilling and collaboration.

Greenworks will also complement our current employment and enterprise offer to tenants and residents by helping to establish new green businesses and create new job opportunities.
