Upcoming webinar: Rent and service charges — understand your rights and what to expect from your housing provider

To help tenants understand how rent and service charge changes are set, and what housing providers must work within, Four Million Homes is hosting two independent online sessions in March. These webinar sessions explain the rules, limits and rights around rent and service charges, including what you can ask for if something doesn’t feel clear.

You can also read our 2026/27 rent and service charge update, which explains what’s changing this year and how we’re here to support you: https://www.boltonathome.org.uk/bolton-at-home-news/your-202627-rent-and-service-charge-update-7094/

Webinar: Tenant rent and service charges

  • Date: Thursday 12 March 2026
  • Times:
    • 2:30pm to 4:00pm
    • 7:00pm to 8:30pm
  • Location: Online.

What the session covers – and why it helps

This is the time of year when many tenants receive updates about their rent and service charges. These sessions can help you understand any changes by explaining:

  • How social housing rents are set, including the national formula and limits providers must work within.
  • What housing providers can and cannot charge for, and how service charges should be explained.
  • What information you have the right to see, and how providers should communicate changes clearly.
  • Recent Government announcements on rent convergence — what they mean and how any changes must stay within national rent caps and regulatory standards.
  • What to do if something doesn’t seem right, including formal routes for resolving issues.
  • Where to get support if you’re worried about paying, from early conversations with your provider to independent advice.

There’ll be time for questions and discussion. Closed captions will be available.
