Making New Bury cleaner, safer and better supported

Making New Bury cleaner, safer and better supported

Over the last few weeks, we’ve held three Community and Environmental Action Days in New Bury.

These days brought residents, colleagues, volunteers and our partners together to tidy the area, spot any issues early, and offer support to the people who need it.

A big thank-you to everyone who joined us - including residents, Bolton Borough Litter Pickers, Glendale, Greater Manchester Police, and local councillors.

And a special thanks to New Bury Chippy for generously providing 60 chippy dinners to keep everyone fuelled during the action days.

What we achieved together

  • Filled over 22 skips
  • Cleared streets, green spaces, fly-tipping and abandoned bins
  • Supported vulnerable customers
  • Collected hundreds of bags of litter

Support for residents

As teams moved through the neighbourhood and spoke with residents, we were able to pick up things that needed attention:

  • 18 untidy gardens – follow-up support planned
  • 1 home with hoarding concerns – support offered
  • 1 damp and mould report – action underway
  • 2 properties needing condition checks – visits arranged
  • 2 households needing extra support – our teams will continue to help

Here’s what Paul Lowe, our Director of Customer and Communities said about the events:

“These action days are about more than tidying up – they’re about listening to residents and working together to make New Bury a place people are proud to call home. By joining forces with local partners, we’re tackling issues that matter most to the community and building stronger connections for the future.”

Thank you again to everyone involved, for your hard work and kindness. Your support makes a real difference.
