Building Safety High-Rise Action Days – event highlights

Building Safety High-Rise Action Days – event highlights

This summer, our Building Safety team led a series of targeted action days at our high-rise buildings. Colleagues joined residents, partners, and local agencies to help make our high-rise homes safer, cleaner, and more connected.

The events took place at:

  • 31 July – Fernstead House, Rogerstead House, and Blackshaw House
  • 1 August – Arundel Court
  • 6 August – Rainford House

What we set out to do

These events were part of our commitment to improving the safety, condition, and wellbeing of our high-rise residents’ homes and communities.

The events were led by our Building Safety team and were set up to:

  • improve fire and building safety in high-rise homes
  • listen to residents’ concerns and ideas face-to-face
  • access homes to carry out safety checks and offer support
  • take action to make our high-rise buildings a better place to live.

A true team effort

While building safety was the main focus, the High-Rise Action Days quickly grew into a wider effort to support residents across many areas of home and community life.

Teams from across the organisation came together to offer help and advice on everything from repairs and damp and mould to tenancy support, energy saving, and community development.

We were also joined by trusted partners including:

  • Greater Manchester Police
  • Bolton Neighbourhood Watch
  • Connolly Contractors
  • Liberty Repairs
  • Bolton Borough Litter Pickers

Together, we created a welcoming space where residents could get support, raise concerns, and see real action being taken.

Thank you

To every resident who opened their door, shared their thoughts, or got involved - thank you. You helped us understand what matters most to you and take meaningful action.

We’d also like to thank every colleague, partner, and volunteer who gave their time and support. Together, we made a real difference in our high-rise communities.

What’s next?

We’ve carefully reviewed the feedback shared by residents during the High-Rise Action Days, and this will help shape how we manage building safety going forward.

One clear message stood out: residents want more face-to-face contact. Whether it’s speaking directly to colleagues, raising concerns, or getting advice, personal interaction makes a real difference.

We’ll continue to build on what worked well, improve where needed, and keep residents at the heart of our decisions.
