Taking the time to talk can really make all the difference when it comes to mental health- but reaching out isn’t always easy.
You might worry that others won’t understand, judge you based on what you say, or that they’ll tell you what to do; and this is why we’re introducing weekly anonymous 'Let It Out Lounge' sessions through our Bolton Manbassadors project (which you can learn more about here: www.boltonathome.org.uk/bolton-manbassadors).
The aim is to remove the anxiety men might feel when attending a peer to peer support session in person; that walk through the door, an unfamiliar place, with unfamiliar people.
Starting on Monday 10 October from 7pm to 8.30pm (and running during this time every Monday for six weeks), these online sessions will provide a safe and supportive space for men aged 18 and over to talk confidentially about issues affecting their mental health- without judgement.
And because they’ll be held on Zoom, you can attend these sessions from the comfort of your home. There’s no need to use your real name when you join, and you’ll leave your camera off throughout the session.
During the 90-minute session, you’ll be joined by James (who’ll have his camera on), a trained coach who’ll give you time to think and talk through any issues affecting your mental wellbeing. It’s a fact that many of us find it easier to talk to people we don’t know about our issues- rather than relatives or friends- as this can help us to look at our problems in a different way.
If you’re a man aged 18 or over- there’s a space for you in the lounge.
Or, if you’ve a dad, brother, uncle, son, or friend you feel could benefit, please let them know.
Registering only takes a minute, and it’s as simple as completing this short form: forms.office.com/r/jGkPcayYGr.
Alternatively, you can contact our Bolton Manbassadors colleagues on 07787337474 or boltonmanbassadors@boltonathome.org.uk to book your place.
