Tea parties launch new Bolton residents’ group

Vintage tea parties are being held to mark the start of a new partnership between residents at four of Bolton’s supported housing sites.

Four Seasons Unite is a new residents’ group that will represent those living at our four ‘extra care’ sites at Merton in Deane, Eldon St in Tonge, and Maxton House and Campbell House in Farnworth.

Supported by staff, the new group will consult with residents and share ideas about the activities they’d like to see at each site, then organise fundraising to make them happen.

The first tea party was held at Merton, which is home to Roland Roscoe, 92, who worked for Bolton Council’s housing department for 40 years in transport, storage and as a rent collector.

Roland, one of the representatives of the new residents’ group, said: “It’s important for residents to come together and discuss things that interest them. We hope this project will get bigger and bigger and capture people’s imagination as more residents get involved and share their ideas.”

Denise Harris, Sustainment and Support Manager, said: “Our first tea party was a great success. As well as being a great social gathering for residents, these sessions are taking the opportunity to start consulting with all residents and coming up with ideas for other events and activities.”

The tea parties, which will also be held at the other three housing sites, have been funded by us and charitable company Bolton Community and Voluntary Services (CVS).
