Extra care community brought together for celebration

Extra care community brought together for celebration

Four Seasons Unite is a residents group that represents those living at our extra care sites at Merton in Deane, Eldon Street in Tonge, and Maxton House and Campbell House in Farnworth.

After months of planning and fundraising, the group united 70 residents to enjoy a meal, music and dancing at Slaterfield Community Centre in Great Lever.

It was the first time residents from all four locations had been brought together for such an event, timed to follow the International Day of Older Persons (1 October). This is a focal point for raising awareness of issues affecting the elderly and appreciating the contributions that older people make to society.

Pictured is Gerald Prescott, Chair of the Four Seasons Unite Committee. He said: “We meet once a month to talk about ways of bringing the community together, both within and across the centres, fundraising for events and supporting charities.”

Committee member David Hornby added: “It’s not easy for some people to leave their homes and mix with new people. This event has given people that opportunity and a forum to share experiences and life stories, and most importantly, have fun.”

Four Seasons raised close to £2,000 for the event, to cover the food, transport and entertainment. They received money from the Lottery, the Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund, Bolton and Rochdale Lions, and even donations from residents.

Thanks to all supporters and everyone involved.
