Can Storehouse bank on your support?

We’re joining forces with Asda stores in Bolton tomorrow (Saturday 22 November) to support Bolton’s food bank Storehouse. Volunteers will be out between 10am and 4pm asking shoppers to donate a tin or two to help people in need.

Some of our staff will team-up with staff from Seddons Construction Limited to volunteer their time to help collect food.

Christine Baldwin, Asda’s Community Life Champion said: ”Asda is proud to be supporting  this one-day food bank drive across four of its stores – Astley Bridge, Burnden Park, Daubhill and Horwich. We’re hoping to make a difference for those in our community who need help from the food bank this Christmas.”

Bolton Wanderers Street Stadia will be at the Astley Bridge store from 11am-3pm, so children can have some fun kicking a ball around with staff from Bolton Wanderers Community Trust.

Dave Bagley, Chief Executive of local charity Urban Outreach, which runs the Storehouse food bank, said: “In today’s world, more and more people are suddenly finding themselves in need – whether it’s because of a sudden loss of job, illness, benefits changes or delays, or unmanageable debt. We never fail to be amazed by the generosity of Bolton people in responding to the needs of people less fortunate than themselves.”

The Storehouse food bank provides food for people in financial need, who are referred by over 100 agencies in Bolton. Agencies issue vouchers based on a strict criteria to ensure that the food donated gets to the people in most need. Around 100 food parcels a week are provided to families and individuals.
