New partnership aims to deliver 1,400 affordable homes

Arcon Housing will join Bolton at Home from April and deliver much-needed affordable homes in the North West.

The move has been given final Board approval by both organisations following a period of consultation with tenants and other stakeholders. It sees Arcon become a subsidiary of the Bolton at Home Limited Group and the new partnership will help to deliver 1,400 new homes by 2023.

Bernard Gallagher, Chief Executive Officer of Arcon Housing Group, said: “Our coming together gives both organisations additional expertise and resources to help our communities and will deliver new affordable homes.

“Together we can introduce these new homes quicker than we would be able to individually. It’s a partnership that will bring many mutual benefits to our customers.”

Jon Lord, Group Chief Executive of Bolton at Home, said: “This partnership makes both organisations even stronger, which will have many benefits for our tenants.

“We’d already been working closely with Arcon as part of the Greater Manchester Housing Providers group. It has knowledge and skills that complement our own, including a wealth of development expertise. This will be invaluable to our joint ambitions to build the affordable homes the region so urgently needs.”

Bolton at Home manages over 18,000 homes across the borough, investing at least £19m annually into refurbishing existing housing stock and regeneration programmes. Arcon manages 1,200 homes across Greater Manchester, Cheshire, High Peak and Fylde.

In Greater Manchester, the revised Greater Manchester Spatial Framework indicates that a minimum of 201,000 new homes are needed across the region by 2037, to meet existing and rising demand, with 50,000 of these being new affordable homes.
