Motiv8 highly commended at UK Housing Awards

Motiv8 highly commended at UK Housing Awards

Motiv8, a Greater Manchester programme helping people overcome barriers to get back on track, has been highly commended in this year’s UK Housing Awards for the work done by programme delivery partners to support people across the region.

Motiv8 and our own Employment and Enterprise Service were both finalists for the Resident Employment and Training Award for housing providers serving over 15,000 households.

The award was won by Abri Group, which works across south England.

Congratulations to all involved. The recognition helps to get the message out that if someone needs support to overcome some difficulties and gain the skills and confidence needed to get back on track and into work, we can help in different and tailored ways.

Motiv8 is delivered by a partnership of social housing providers led by Jigsaw Support, part of the Jigsaw Group, with Bolton at Home (through our social enterprise Starts with you), ForHousing, Stockport Homes Group (through Foundations Stockport) and Wythenshawe Community Housing Group.

The UK Housing Awards are organised by Inside Housing magazine to recognise the positive impact of the UK’s housing sector.

Martin Hilditch, editor of Inside Housing, said:

“The UK Housing Awards are about highlighting the and celebrating the work done by the UK’s housing sector. Congratulations to all the winners and commended entries. It really is an opportunity to highlight great performance and hopefully to help it spread more widely.”

The programme, which is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and the European Social Fund, is focused on people facing complex challenges and barriers to work who are often left behind by other services. It works with people facing physical and mental health conditions, domestic abuse, homelessness and substance dependence. Almost two in three of the residents Motiv8 work with have been unemployed for at least five years.

Gill Brown, chair of Jigsaw Support Board said: “Well done to the Motiv8 team. You’re all fantastic and provide an amazing and much needed service.”

Donna Kelly, Jigsaw Group Director Support and Neighbourhoods said: “This is a fantastic end to what has been a difficult and challenging year for everyone. The pandemic has seen people across the country struggle with job losses and furlough. To be able to provide a service that will help people around 5,000 people with wellbeing, skills and support to get them closer to finding work is testament to the team and brilliant partnership working.”
