#HomesAtTheHeart of making ends meet
This week (commencing 10 August) the National Housing Federation led #HomesAtTheHeart campaign focuses on housing organisations being able to provide more homes that are affordable and supporting tenants to become financially secure where needed.
Social housing providers like us do more than traditional landlord functions. We also know that anyone can have financial difficulties at times in their lives through no fault of their own.
We do what we can to provide the following where and when it’s needed:
- support into employment or training;
- help with benefit applications, medical assessments or challenging a benefit decision where appropriate;
- support with access to free banking and affordable credit;
- help to budget and deal with debts;
- support with affordable furniture options and white goods;
- help to get the best deal from your energy provider and making homes more energy efficient;
- support with emergency food aid.
We’re also building homes to help more people move into affordable housing and reduce the risk of homelessness.
Better availability of homes will help families and local communities stay together as people don’t need to move away to find somewhere suitable, or remain stuck in a home that is too small for them as their circumstances change.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, 641 families have made significant financial savings and gains since getting in touch with us.
On average they stand to be better off by £5,388 per household over a 12 month period following the support they’ve received.

#HomesAtTheHeart is led by the National Housing Federation (www.housing.org.uk). It's a call for a once-in-a-generation national investment for quality affordable housing to be at the heart of plans for social and economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
We’re supporting the Homes At The Heart campaign together with Arcon Housing Association (www.arcon.org.uk) and other members of the Greater Manchester Housing Providers partnership (https://gmhousing.co.uk).
