We want to update you on some changes we’re making to our Bolton at Home social media channels.
These changes follow an ongoing review of how we use social media to keep customers informed.
It also follows a consultation with our Customer Scrutiny Panel and Youth Scrutiny Panel as part of a review of our communications service. The groups highlighted their preferred communication channels for receiving updates from us, and their feedback supported our decision to leave X.
What’s happening and why?
From 1 April, we’ll no longer be using our corporate account (@boltonathome) on the X social media platform (formerly known as Twitter) to communicate with customers.
We’ve been reviewing our use of X over the last 12 months and in that time very few customers have used it to contact us. Content we post on the channel also gets little engagement when compared to updates we post on Facebook.
We intend to have a pinned post on X for the next few weeks to let people know about these changes. During this time,we will not be monitoring the channel or replying to messages or comments. On March 31 the account will be deleted.
New Bolton at Home Instagram account
To support our communication with a wider audience, including some of our younger customers, we’re also launching an Instagram account in April. This channel will be mainly used to keep people informed of important news and updates, rather than as a customer service channel.
However, we’ll continue using Facebook and customers can use Facebook’s messaging service to contact us. We’ll also remain active on LinkedIn.
