Help to manage your finances

Paying your rent and service charge on time benefits all Bolton at Home customers as collecting missed payments takes resources away from the other services we provide. If you find you are having difficulty paying your rent, please contact us as soon as possible. Our staff are fully trained to provide help and advice at what could be a stressful time.

We want to ensure that our customers know where to go for the right financial products and other financial services and that they have the confidence to do this.  By doing this we hope to initially reduce, and then eliminate, financial exclusion in the areas that we manage.

Basic bank accounts

This is for managing day-to-day money. It doesn't usually allow you to go overdrawn by more than £10, if at all. A full list of banks offering these types of accounts can be found at http://www.moneymadeclear.fsa.gov.uk/ as well as loads of other really useful information, tools and calculators to help you manage you money.

Credit unions

You could join Bolton’s credit union, HOOT.  Credit unions are owned by their members and run by their members, they are there to help!   The unions help you to save and once you have become a reliable saver, you can borrow money at extremely reasonable rates and feel safe and secure knowing that you have borrowed from a legitimate and regulated lender.  Credit Unions normally accept a wider range of ID than banks, and they give free life insurance to cover the value of a loan.

More information on credit unions can be found at http://www.moneymadeclear.fsa.gov.uk/ or visit the HOOT website at www.wisewithmoney.org.uk/ (soon to be re-launched with the HOOT brand).
