Parking
You can park a car within the boundary of your property as long as you have a properly built drive, access crossing, dropped kerb and garage or hard standing. Sometimes we may charge extra rent for this facility. Restrictions may apply to vehicles over 3.5 tonnes.
You must not:
- Park or drive on open areas, footpaths or grass verges
- Park any caravan, motor-home, boat or trailer in front of the front elevation of the property, on any grass verge of communal parking area. additional to this, you must have a professionally constructed hardstand, for the vehicle/boat to stand on and written permission from Bolton at Home
- Store mopeds,bikes or any motor equipment inside your premises or in internal shared areas
- Keep un-roadworthy or illegal vehicles either within the boundary of your home or anywhere else such as open space, parking area or verge
Vehicle maintenance
You can carry out minor repairs to any vehicles which belong to anyone in your household provided you:
- Carry out the work on your own drive or in your own garage
- Keep noise, smell and dirt to a minimum
- Responsibly dispose of remove unwanted oil and vehicle parts at an authorised site
- Do not cause annoyance to neighbours
- Do not carry out any welding on your premises.
Garages and garage sites
In some areas, we let garages or sites where you can put up your own garage. Garages can only be used for storing private motor vehicles, not for storing or using inflammable substances or anything else.
Whether you’re a leaseholder or tenant of Bolton at Home or tenant of a private landlord tenant, if you’re interested in applying for a garage or garage site, contact your neighbourhood office for details of what’s available in your area. If you want to go ahead you will need to complete an application form – you can get this from your neighbourhood office or download one here. This form needs to be returned to:

As a suitable garage becomes available, it will be offered to the applicant that has been on the waiting list the longest. We’ll make an appointment with you to sign an agreement when we’ll explain the tenancy terms and conditions, ask you to pay a week’s rent in advance and give you the keys.
Ending a garage tenancy
If you want to end your garage tenancy you’ll need to give one weeks’ notice and fill in a tenancy termination form (available from any neighbourhood office or follow the link from this page to download one). Once the tenancy is terminated we’ll need you to return the keys to the neighbourhood office before 10.00am on the Monday morning of the termination date. You should also make sure that you remove all your belongings from the garage as we may charge you for the cost of removal.
Remember that if you fail to pay your garage rent, it may be repossessed.
