Cash boost is sweet result for Bolton Hospice

Our sweet-toothed employees have raised £1,500 for Bolton Hospice.

The lion’s share of the money raised by staff for the hospice this year came from office tuck shops, which earned more than £1,100 in sales of snacks donated by colleagues.

Our Chief Executive, Jon Lord; Payroll Supervisor Shirley Ainscow and Knowledge and Information Officer Cath Robinson presented a cheque to Bolton Hospice’s Events Coordinator Siobhan McGarel.

Stephanie Lacaille, Community Fundraiser for Bolton Hospice, said: “We’d like to thank everyone at Bolton at Home who has contributed towards this fantastic donation, we really do appreciate it. We rely on the support of local people and businesses to keep our vital services running for Bolton residents with both cancer and non-cancer life-limiting illnesses.

“Our costs are £3.5 million per year and as a charity we have to raise £2.5 million of this ourselves so Bolton at Home’s donation really will make a difference.”

Shirley Ainscow added: “Bolton at Home has always been a keen supporter of Bolton Hospice, which provides incredible care for people and helps so many families across Bolton.

“Many of our staff have been touched by what they do and we’re happy to help them in any way that we can.”

And in a separate fundraising initiative for Christmas, our staff have also raised £300 for Urban Outreach.

Urban Outreach runs a number of projects for disadvantaged and vulnerable people in Bolton, including a food bank.
