Residents of Washacre estate are getting
ready for community radio station Washacre FM which goes on air for four
days in July.
Broadcasting from the John Holt Centre, at the heart of the Washacre estate
from 18 to 21 July, the station will be on air 24 hours a day. Local
volunteers will be taking the hot seat as station presenters plus a guest
appearance by celebrity fusion chef Aazam Ahmad is scheduled.
In addition to music and requests Washacre FM will be reporting on local
news, events and issues.
In a grand finale on Saturday 21 July, starting at 11am, there’s a showcase
event at the John Holt Centre which is open to all.
The showcase is to be broadcast live on the radio station and will include
Aazam’s cookery show along with a whole host of attractions including a
climbing wall, face painting, sports tournament, health check-ups, fun for
the under fives, prizes and raffles.
Washacre FM is a joint project which has been funded by Bolton Council and
managed by Bolton at Home. Further radio and showcase events are planned for
later this year and in 2008.
