Taking a stand: Diane Conroy has been recognised by Bolton at Home for
standing up to Anti Social Behaviour
14-FEB-06
Residents who have made a difference in their communities by standing up to
Anti Social Behaviour have been recognised by Bolton at Home.
Bolton at Home’s first annual ‘Taking a Stand Awards’ praised residents who
have taken action against Anti Social Behaviour. Recognition has been given
to those who have recorded incidents, given evidence in court, or been
involved in community activities.
Noel Spencer, Chair of Bolton at Home, said: “I have more admiration than I
can speak of for the courage and bravery shown by people who stand up to
offenders of Anti Social Behaviour. Everyone can have a role to play and I
hope others will now be encouraged to take action.”
Diane Conroy, one of three winners honoured at the event, was chosen from a
number of nominations for a continued stance against a nuisance neighbour
despite intimidation. Mrs Conroy recorded incidents as they took place,
provided witness statements and attended court proceedings, which resulted
in an Anti Social Behaviour Order being given to the offender.
Mrs Conroy said: “I am delighted to receive an award, but I only did what I
believe to be right for the benefit of our community, and that is not to
tolerate the unacceptable behaviour of others.”
