Bolton at Home has launched improvements to its Disability Service which
will make life easier for people who require home adaptations to support
their independent living.
As part of delivering housing renewal and regenerating areas and communities
on behalf of Bolton Council, Bolton at Home’s Disabled Facilities, Grants
and Adaptations Service offers advice, help and guidance in the provision of
home adaptations for people with disabilities and other needs.
Over the last year a total of 418 adaptations, at a cost of £2 million, were
completed to help people live independently in their homes, including;
shower installations, stair rails, stair lifts, access ramps and major
structural changes.
Following a successful pilot, Bolton at Home, in partnership with Bolton
Council’s Adult Services, is now able to offer customers a one stop shop
service to meet their adaptation needs, from initial enquiry through to
completion.
Gwen Crawford, Director of Customer Services, Bolton at Home said: “We are
delighted these improvements will provide a faster service delivery which
will reduce waiting list times and offer much needed continuity for our
elderly, frail and vulnerable customers.”
