A family in Westhoughton who brought misery to their neighbours were
evicted on Wednesday.
Bolton at Home took action against mother of five Denise Gleave, 42,
following the family’s antisocial behaviour which included repeated noise
nuisance, verbal abuse and neighbour intimidation.
Ms Gleave was also in rent arrears, with her property and gardens both kept
to unacceptable standards.
The family had received repeated warnings to improve their behaviour. Bolton
at Home had also supported the family through referral to the Bolton
Families Project who offered practical support by encouraging parenting
skills.
However the situation did not improve, and earlier this month a judge at
Bolton County Court awarded Bolton at Home possession of the property. Five
witnesses gave evidence in court about the family's conduct.
Bailiffs and representatives from Bolton at Home served Ms Gleave with a
warrant for her eviction at midday on Wednesday. Police were also present.
Noel Spencer, Chair of Bolton at Home said: We will not tolerate antisocial
behaviour of any kind, and will take whatever measures are necessary in the
interests and safety of our valued customers. We are also committed to
supporting and assisting those people who have suffered from antisocial
behaviour. More witnesses coming forward will enable us to tackle the
offenders more effectively.”
