Masterpiece: Five year old Chloe Roscoe showing off her artistic skills with
local artist Penny Butterworth at the Breightmet family fun week
03-AUG-06
Hundreds of young people in Breightmet, Bolton, have been enjoying a week
of activities at Withins Leisure Centre, thanks to funding from the North
and South Breightmet local community panels.
Climbing walls, paint ball, trampolining, street dancing and art workshops
were among the activities organised by Bolton at Home and Serco Leisure to
provide youngsters with a fun start to their summer holidays.
Noel Spencer, Chair of Bolton at Home, said: “We are delighted to support
activities which bring communities together. The week also gives the young
people an opportunity to tell us what they think of where they live so we
can look towards their future.”
Local resident Nicola Henry added: “It is great that the local children have
had the opportunity to try, and enjoy, new things.”
Each day as part of the event, 16 children were drawn to win an outdoor
adventure day out at Angelzarke. Running from Monday 7th August to Friday
11th August, the winners will enjoy a day climbing, abseiling, kayaking and
rafting.
