Singalong at Flockton Court

Singalong at Flockton Court: Artist Claire Mooney leads residents in song with Margaret Brown, Geoffrey Lindop, Anne Megson and Frank Whistlecroft

From ballads to Bassey

14-JUN-06

Residents of Bolton at Home’s Flockton Court sheltered accommodation in Horwich have published their own song book after working with local artists to discuss how music has played an important part in their lives.

Residents formed a ‘story tellers’ group to share their favourite songs, including those from childhood memories, and this collection has been captured in the Flockton Court book of song.

Residents celebrated the completion of their book with a party and sing along. A framed photo of the residents’ ‘story tellers’ group was also unveiled to mark the occasion.

Flockton Court resident, Annie Megson, said: “We have really enjoyed sharing our favourite songs with each other, and to bring all these memories together in our own book is very special.”

Residents have also recently enjoyed glass engraving, tapestry, making their own music CD, mosaics and silk painting.
