Local people could improve their employment prospects thanks to a grants
initiative managed by Bolton at Home with support of the European Social
Fund.
‘Global Grants’, up to £6,000, can be awarded to organisations or groups to
fund projects which help people from disadvantaged communities gain in
confidence and move closer to the workplace.
Global Grants can be awarded for projects including basic skills training,
building confidence and beginner’s maths, English and computer courses.
Examples of work funded in Bolton through Global Grants have included
supporting the High Street and Derby Youth Group in providing job
preparation skills and personal development for young people up to 25-years
old. While the Greenhouse Project has provided 24-weeks of English teaching,
practical learning and confidence building to isolated individuals and
communities, including refugees who have recently been granted citizenship.
Applications are particularly encouraged from groups who deliver projects
which will benefit single parents, the over 50s, people with disabilities
and ethnic minority groups.
Further information and an application form can be requested by phoning
