Could you gain from Global Grants?

17-APR-07

Local people could improve their employment prospects thanks to a grants initiative managed by Bolton at Home with support of the European Social Fund.

‘Global Grants’, up to £6,000, can be awarded to organisations or groups to fund projects which help people from disadvantaged communities gain in confidence and move closer to the workplace.

Global Grants can be awarded for projects including basic skills training, building confidence and beginner’s maths, English and computer courses.

Examples of work funded in Bolton through Global Grants have included supporting the High Street and Derby Youth Group in providing job preparation skills and personal development for young people up to 25-years old. While the Greenhouse Project has provided 24-weeks of English teaching, practical learning and confidence building to isolated individuals and communities, including refugees who have recently been granted citizenship.

Applications are particularly encouraged from groups who deliver projects which will benefit single parents, the over 50s, people with disabilities and ethnic minority groups.

Further information and an application form can be requested by phoning Bolton at Home on 01204 335430 or by following the link below:

The deadline for Global Grant applications is Friday 11 May 2007.
