A new centre which will help local communities on the Oldhams Estate to
access support, information, advice and training, was opened in celebratory
style this week.
Offering a range of practical assistance to local residents, Bolton at
Home’s Urban Care and Neighbourhood (UCAN) centre aims to play a significant
role in the urban regeneration and neighbourhood renewal of the Oldhams
Estate area.
Services available from the centre include a neighbourhood policing base,
housing and health advice, guidance for employment and education, and
support for local community groups.
Noel Spencer MBE, Chair of Bolton at Home, was joined by local residents,
children from Starting Point and David Crausby MP, to officially open the
centre on Friday 12 January.
Cutting the ribbon to open the centre, Noel Spencer said: “UCAN centres help
local people to address issues important to them. We are delighted to extend
our network of UCAN centres into Oldhams and support local residents to take
positive action to improve their communities and neighbourhoods.”
