A Bolton at Home employee has finished in the top three for a national
award, which recognises outstanding performances from apprentices in the gas
industry.
Matthew Taylor, 20, who has just completed a four-year apprenticeship as a
gas service engineer, was shortlisted in the apprentice category at this
year’s CORGI awards.
The annual event, held in Coventry, is billed as the ‘Oscars’ of the
plumbing and heating industry, with award categories also including
manufacturing excellence, gas safety and energy efficiency.
Matthew was nominated for the award for his dedicated approach to work,
exemplary attendance record and performance in completing his national
vocational qualification (NVQ) in domestic natural gas.
Noel Spencer, Chair of Bolton at Home, said: “We are tremendously proud of
Matthew’s achievement. Bolton at Home takes great pride in recognition for
our apprentices, who apply themselves with great commitment and make a real
contribution to housing and environmental improvements across the borough.”
Commenting on the awards, Matthew said: “I had a fantastic evening at the
awards ceremony and this was a brilliant way to finish off my
apprenticeship. Thanks to all the people who have supported me during this
time.”
