Housing Percent for Art supports a variety of arts projects that help to
improve the physical and social environment of communities, facilitating
projects that can include: consultation and awareness raising; physical art
works; and capacity building for groups and individuals.
We are looking for projects that:
- Have a creative arts element
- Involve people from community housing (Bolton at Home or a Housing
Association)
- Benefit the local community – for example by tackling local issues,
making it a more attractive place to live, improving the image of the
area or building the skills of its residents.
- Have the support of the local community, and a steering group that
are committed to making the project a success
Examples of projects we have supported:
- Breightmet Lantern Parade – community/school workshops followed by a
celebratory parade
- Eldon Street – arts based consultation which fed in to an
environmental improvement scheme featuring over 60 pieces of artwork
- Washacre Photography – a photography project which aims to capture a
snapshot of the estate in its current period of change
- ABC Park – arts based consultation and art elements incorporated
into a new play area
- Harmony Youth Project – feasibility study for a feature film project
- Teenage Mums – poems and stories collected and published in a book
- Brazley Community Hall – design workshops and exterior/interior
artwork including new signage

artwork.
We cannot support projects:
- Which have no creative arts element e.g. security fencing / benches
/ signage ordered from a catalogue
- Which have no or very little involvement from the local community
- Where the majority of participants are not from community housing
- Where the funding requested is for more than the creative arts
element of the project
- Which are part of your group’s ongoing activities (e.g. running a
youth club)
