Yes. Housing Mobility and Exchange Services (HOMES) can. HOMES work with Councils and Housing Associations all over the UK to help thousands of people move home each year, through the HOMES Mobility Scheme. This scheme can be used for short and long distance moves. HOMES put your Council and Housing Associations in touch with other landlords who may be able to offer you a home, or who may be able to put you on their waiting list in the area you need to move to.
If you need to move for at least one of the following reasons and if you
are a council tenant, owner occupier or private landlord, you may be eligible
to apply:
If you are taking up a job which is too far away to travel to everyday.
If you need to be closer to relative or friends so that they can give you
support or so that you can give them support.
If there are other pressing reasons such as domestic violence or harassment.
You do not have an automatic right to move and the organisation in the area
you are asking for does not have to rehouse you.
To apply you can complete a HOMES Mobility Form Link to Homes Mobility Form and return to Jean Dawson, 'homesforyou' Team, 12 Silverwell Street, Bolton, BL1 1PP or call Jean Dawson on (01204) 335822. Housing association tenants will need to contact their own landlord.
