Beacon Award: Improving Housing Services by Involving Tenants

Beacon Status

Bolton Council and Bolton at Home were recently awarded Beacon Status for the way they involve customers in housing services.

In March 2006, Bolton was chosen as just one of four authorities in the country to receive the Beacon award for the theme ‘Improving Housing Services by Involving Tenants’. The Beacon scheme identifies innovation and excellence in local government and promotes improvements in local government through sharing best practice.

This is the third housing related Beacon award Bolton has received. In 2004-5, Bolton won Beacon status for Housing Renewal (external link, opens in a new window) and in 2003-4 for Tackling Homelessness.

Apart from the prestige of winning the award, Bolton at Home will also be able to benefit from participating in the Beacon scheme through opportunities to continue to improve services.
